Having trouble with XP

I have aToshiba Satellite with Windows XP.

I can't use "Search Companion" to look up files. I don't get any error messages. When I click on search nothing happens in the start menu and in my computer the box comes up on the right side of the screen but it's solid grey.

I can't do any windows updates, office isn't working, norton anti-virus was disabled and I can't get it to work.

I can't figure this one out. Can someone help me?

Yes, I ran the command
