*edit* I may have made 2 more threads by accident this is the main thread...Sorry.

Well, I really couldn't find any correct place to put my issues so I will start here. Just to get a Idea of what is happening. I have tried every single thing I can possibly do as far as my knowledge. I have been to countless forums downloaded drivers, ran cleaners, tweaked memory settings...I am gonna give up after this. then imm gonna salvage what I can for a new computer once the funds come in, then I am gonna donate the rest to a rifle range. Yea thats how much frustration i am having.

Anyways on to the issue: First is during the boot process, I get a black screen that says "0 drive failure" then I have to hit F1 to proceed to the log-in screen and then wait 5min just to load to desktop.

Now I am not sure if this is related but, I experince a (.5sec length) lag spike every (3 sec's). I am a avid gamer...well...used to be until this started. I play alot of BF1942 & BF2. I never had any major lag issues other then minor spikes. I used to be able to play BF2 with a breeze, not the best graphics but I could rock that game.

    My Specs are:
    -Dell D4600 P4 2.66Ghz
    -GForce 6800 Apollo
    -768 Ram
    -1 IDE primary HD
    -1 External Sec HD

    Connection-Verzion FIOS

    well here goes everything...

I didnt find a edit button after the I made a mistake but here some more problems that i found.

I am missing these drivers or atleast thats what "driver agent" says.

    IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
-Intel(R) 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers
-Intel(R) 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers

    Moniters
    -Plug and Play Monitor

    Network Adapters
    -Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection

    Other Devices
    -Multimedia Audio Controller

    System Devices
    -Intel(R) 82801EB SMBus Controller - 24D3
    -Intel(R) 82801EB LPC Interface Controller - 24D0

    Universal Serial Bus controllers
    -USB Composite Device
    -HP PSC 1400 series (DOT4USB)

But whats wierd is I went to "Driver Guide" and scan there and said some of the drives marked here and up-to-date? I am confused here.

    thanks

    Welcome to majorgeeks.
I would say that '0 drive failure' would indicate just that- you hard drive is about to go.
If you want to test it , the manufacturers tool is usually availailable at majorgeeks downloads
You could use this to run a current check

Or, on this link several software tools.

Otherwise, you could go to start, run, type in CHKDSK /R
and shut down/restart to allow Windows to check and possibly repair the disc.

If your external drive is connected during the startup, try it with that drive disconnected, in case it is the external drive.
If the external drive drive is set as slave, and nothing is saved on it, then you could save all , or, a copy of your data on it, and if/when you replace the primary drive, you can still get to your data.

When a hard drive starts to go, all sorts of errors occur, especially if that area of the hard drive has bad sectors, CHKDSK, will try to repair/move data from bad sectors, and even then, if it is that bad, it's only short term.
