HD issue w/ Samsungs HM160JI. Need some help plz.

I bought this laptop and with it came this hard drive(SAMSUNG HM160JI SCSI Disk Device (149GB) this is what is says threw EVEREST HE). It's suppose to be bran new and 160GB's, but for some reason its saying its compacity is only 24GB of total memory with 6.2Gb in the system recover. I ran EVEREST and it's even saying it should be a 160GB HD. I'm lost on how to fix this without reformatting. I'm running window's vista and dont really want to do this, not comfortable enough. If anyone has any solutions or a reason to why this HD would be doing this, i would greatly appreciate it. I searched as much as i could, but the army hasn't been giving me too much free time. i'm accually at work now,shhhh rolleyes. Thxs for the help.
