I was trying to prepare my Hd to format and re-install win xp pro using one of the utilities from seagate like I always do, the utility is call disk wizard.
By mistake trying to make a partition I click in something that made my hard drive smaller, now is only 33000mb (33gb) instead of the 80000mb (80GB).
I saw in the bios and say 33gb also when I start the win install say 33gb.
I tried everything to restore it using this utility from seagate by I can not do it.
Would you please help me with this?.
Thank you beforehand for your help and time

Hi, i made many things trying to resolve my problem, I did a partition but then when I saw the problem I erased it.
The thing is that with the disk wizard if I prepare my HD it shows me the 80 gb and it let me do partitions if I want but when I boot with windows it only shows 33gb and only one partition, i did not select to make a partition of that size. At the bios it shows me also 33gb.
I found what I did to get there.
This utilty has a tool for people that have problem with their motherboard not showing the full size and because of that they can not use the HD, so this utility made the Hd to look smaller to the motherboard.
The thing is that there is not a reverse buttom in this utility (or I don't see it) to put the hd the way it was.
    Thank you for your help.

partitions are invisible to bios, it only shows your physical drive and it's size so that means you must have limited the drive completely. if you'd just made a partition of 33gb out of the total 80gb it'll still show 80gb in bios.

have you made any settings on the back of the harddrive?

there is a jumper setting with the option of limiting the drive to old DOS standards, 32gb. we all know about the bit/byte conversion and it's confusions so why it's showing 33gb instead of 32 in that case could just be the conversion playing a trick.

if you're absolutely sure it happened with this software tool, try to search the internet for more info on this program. if it's a seagate official release someone else is bound to have made the same mistake as you, search and see if you could find anything about that.

you can't just kill 50gb like that so somehow you can get it back, I'm sure.

what I did is to enable an option that lets people install larger hd in pcs where the bios won't recognize the full size.
With this utilty you can make that your hd look smaller and then you can use it, this is something that I did not need but stupid me, I used it not realizing what I was doing.
I did not touch any jumper or something else.
yes I;m looking for more info to reverse that .
Thank you for your help and time.
