Hd Spin on Laptop then BSOD

Toshiba Satellite, celeron 1.4 gig, 512 memory
winxp home, latest sp and updates

Computer was working fine, left for a few hours, came back it was showing it was in hibernate mode, couldn't get it out of hibernation, cold booted.

Was very very slow in rebooting, HD spun for 15 mins., as soon as it stopped and tried to open home page, or do any type of software opening, it would come up with BSOD stop msg, OXOOOOOOF4.

Tried to run all anti malware, virus, and cleaner software in safe mode, no deal BSOD. Now it will only intermitenly boot into safe mode. Prior to doing any of this tried to go to restore point, and also tried to boot to last known good config, no dice.

Only have Toshiba recovery cd, but too much important data on puter to do a restore, any hope for me to fix problem without total OS install. BTW, do have an external floppy disc drive if there is anything I download to another puter and utilize
