    WinXP pro w/ service pack1

Installed a new 80gig HD w/o any trouble. I would like some recomendations on how best to move the data from the original HD to the new. I have Norton Systemworks w/ Ghost but have never used it before.

The old drive has a lot of junk on it and a new install of Windows would probably be in order to clean things up, as it has some glitches leftover from a virus repair, etc.

What's the best way to go about this? Would it be best to unhook the old HD and install XP to the new drive and then transfer any data, etc to the new one? Nothing on the old drive is absolutely critical. All the BS stuff, like pictures, music, etc can be backed up on CD's first. I was concerned mostly w/ the XP updates, service pack1 and that stuff, as it took me forever to download on my dialup service.

Your advice is appreciated. I didn't want to jump into this w/o some experienced input first. Thanks!

correct. load the new harddrive, then connect the old drive.
best to load xp fresh. add no junk.

go to microsoft website, sign up for service pack 2 cdrom to be sent free.

    fast install that way.

    a good clone is

Thanks! Just wanted a 2nd opinion before I got into this. I'm pretty ignorant on these things.

The 2 drives are both running now. I'll backup all the crap I need from the old one first and wait till MS sends the CD, then load everything fresh. Thanks again.
