    Hello,

I have a computer with about a 4 year old HDD running Windows 10.
I want to do a clone of drive to a newer drive and I have a external clone device I have used before with non-OS drive.

Is it safe to clone my os drive to a new drive and will I have problems with windows Activation or other issue.
I want to change the drive before current drive wears itself out.
Computer Runs 24/7 and currently Running WD Black.

Also What would be best choice for new drive?
Looking for same or better Read/Writes but want same or better reliability.

    Thanks in advance
    Gren

I’ve used Macrium to clone HDD to a new drive (same size) & had no problems, I get a black screen with some text (PX over IP 6 iirc) then after several seconds it will boot to Windows.

I would consider upgrading to a SSD. I’ve used Seagate drives which have lasted well, however the SSD I purchased is a SanDisk Ultra 3D (WD actually) & is perfect.
