HDD compatibility

Hi,
can anyone who knows, tell me if this HDD is compatible with a Dell Dimension 5100? this is a spec for my computer, except mine is a bit better (more ram, bigger HDD etc)

it currently has a Maxtor 6L160M0 but I need added space from another HDD. I've supplied all the specs, but i dont know what i'm looking for.

Hi mateYeh your fine,what your looking for is serial ATA or SATA which both your computer and the harddrive uses,the diamond max range of harddrives are pretty quick harddrives also, a good choice

All scans harddrives are OEM which basically means they come in a bag with no extras,to connect it you will need a sata cable,one may have come with your computer but I doubt it

Check you have a spare power connector also to power the drive

my dad has an old dell (7 years) and his had a slot for a second HDD and cables from the motherboard and power supply for it too, so i presume mine will have too.
i'll have a look see later on.

ok i've just had a look and there is a cable for a second hard drive from the power supply, but not from the motherboard.

the main HDD at the mo has a thin blue one that connects it to the motherboard so i guess i need one of them for the second hdd.

which cable is it i need? the one you suggested?
