HDD died do i need to buy windows again? ;S

    So yeah my HDD died whch had windows 7 pre installed on it when i bought the pc so i have no disc to install windows again on my new HDD. I really dont want to spend all that money again :(

    Contact the manufacturer of the computer and request the OS disc's!

    They did not sell you the DVD? What the heck is this? Sounds like a ripoff.

    If it's still under warranty, you should get a free replacement.

    The manufacturer should have a recovery disc available for a small fee. Much less than purchasing a retail copy with another license.. Check their support page or send them an email for more info.

    ok so ive managed to get the dead hdd into this old piece of junk pc im on atm ofc windows is running off annother hdd.
    Is it possible for me to burn windows 7 somehow off my dead hdd onto a disc or something?

    hmm ok is there any way for me to find my windows product ID/key on the hdd?

    like now on this windows im on i can see my product key if i go into control panel > system and maintenance > system

    If it was pre-installed when you bought it, you should have a tag on the case with the serial key.

    It did not come with any windows box/case
    And if you mean the computer case there is no serial/tag on there either

    omfg ignore my last post i just found the serial key on the computer case... BUT ON THE BOTTOM?!?!...never thought of looking at the bottom thanks for your help anyways

    LOL......good to know. Now you should be able to borrow a Win7 disc and use the key to install it.
