HDD Problem

Hi Geeks,
i was using a 40 GB Segate HDD as an external HDD (via external HDD case and with usb interface) it has only one partition F: and was working fine, recently i took it to my friends house to give him some data, it worked fine there , and when brought it back and connected back to my comp while booting the CHKDSK initiated for the F: and then i got this messege

"Unreadable master file table chkdsk aborted"

after bootup it got detected but if i doubble click over F: it says

"Unable to topn F: incorrect function"

Can any Sugess me what has happened and is there's any way to back the data, through any software. (iam using WIN XP Prof)

Did you copy anything to the drive form your friends computer or did you just put some files on your friends computer?

 

Nops, anyways his comp is virus free

 

I would at least check the pins on the back and be sure none is bent. ed

 

Im using a Seagate 120GB hard drive as a second drive.I installed it AFTER I managed to break 2 pins completely off.Every now and again I get a similar type of message.I just switch the PC off and unplug and plug the cable back in and it works.So it could be what tunered said.
P.S I know I should probably get a new drive but this I will do for now.
