    Hey there.

Ok, here we go. I bought a pc that had 2x250Gig sata harddrives that showed up as 500gig in my computer. Now I was traveling overseas and took JUST the 2x250gig hdds with me to use in my other pc at my new destination.

Now, i connected them to my other pc at my new destination and im having problems. Im unable to access the hdd drives and i get a msg asking me to initialize the 1x250gig harddrive and the other says that I need to format.

Now, obviously, Ive got A LOT of information on them that I dont want to lose, but also need to get access too. Is there anyway/method that i can go about in trying to get access to the 2 hdds?

I had them plugged in while booting from my pc's normal hdd (IDE). So, just to clear it up, the 2x250gig hdds are not plugged into the motherboard that came with the 2x250gig hdds. I believe that sometimes can cause a problem?

Also, hdds are NTFS I believe.
Any help/advice is highly appreciated!! Or would it just be easier to get a SATA to USB cable so I can copy to my IDE hdd and just wait till I get back to the other pc where the SATA hdds originally came from...?
    Regards, Xander

Your harddrives are configured to work with the chipset and hardware of your original pc, there is a 99% chance that they will not work on another motherboard. [unless it is the same model]. Having said that, you can connect them as a slave to a working pc, you can access data but not the operating system [windows]. ed

    Cheers for the welcome ;)

Connect them as slave... Basically the jumper settings right? Mmm, access the data but not the operating system? That sounds fine!

I'll give it a go. Thanks, ed.

Since your hard drives were showing up as 500gb instead of 2-250gb it sounds to me like they were setup in a stripped raid array, if this is the case you won't be able to get any data off them until they are put back into a raid setup. Of course I could be wrong.
