On a SATA HDD and or an IDE HDD what is worse, "bad sectors", or "bad clusters", which one would warrant replacing said HDD ?

The HDD in question, this told to me by CHKDSK, has five bad cluster on it.

A cluster may contain from 4 to 64 sectors. It depends on the size of the hard drive. The greater the number of gigabytes there are then the more sectors there will be in a cluster. As far as chkdsk showing bad clusters, if you use the chkdsk /f option then a repair is possible. Not all cluster failures are due to damaged platter surfaces. Sometimes it's just a bad reference in the linked list of clusters that a program uses on the hard drive. Give it a try, but keep an eye open for programs that don't work anymore. That's the program or file that was not re-linkable. It will then need to be re-installed.:)
