I have 45Gb SSD and 150 Gb HDD for my C: drive. When I try to run things such as Smart Defrag it recognizes the C: drive as SSD, and tells me that being an SSD I don't need to defrag it.

The problem is that it won't recognize that there's an HDD portion of the drive and defrag it.

Any way to get the HDD portion recognized?

    Thanks!

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you running?
What does Windows own defrag say for these drives?

SSDs don't really need defrag but they do need TRIM or garbage cleaning and Windows 8s defrag does this, 3rd party defrag apps may not, so try the Windows defrag if you using at least Windows 7

PerfectDisk is pretty good as a 3rd party ay "optimising" an SSD, Optimise is defrag for SSDs

For the HDD not recognised then check My Computer or Disk Management for the drive to be listed , if its listed or recognised then the app is at fault, so try a different app for defrag.

Auslogics Disk Defrag is a good Free one and picks up my SSDs and HDDs (I have 3 SSDs an 2 HDDs in my desktop) just untick the add on PC software during the install as its not needed,
