Ok, i have a 200g HDD from an old pc. I went out to the little electronics store downtown and bought me an enclosure so i could make this HDD an external HDD and get my old info from it.

I was having an easy time of it at first. Pulled all my music and picture files from it and was happy. Then i got the bright idea to try and format the disk to bring it up to date from fat32 to NTFS and to be able to use it as a true external HDD......nice plan BUT.

Windows stops reformatting at about 98 percent done with the error "windows cannot complete format" ...or something to that effect.

It appears as though it created a 5gig partition but the rest of the HDD is unformatted and is recognized as 0bytes with 0 bytes remaining.

Trying to re-format again, will see what happens.

    Any suggestions?

so far it looks like i should have just manually deleted everything and left well enough alone as it was recognizing the drive until now LOL
