hdd usage

    i want to add a second sata hdd to my dell desktop with windows xp.
    i want to use the second drive for photos and photo editing tools only.
    will i be able to do this? just format the new drive and load my photos and programs on it while running xp on the first drive??

    Yes, you should have no problems with it. Just don't mess with any SATA RAID stuff. If they are not setup in a RAID, they work like a regular hard drive. I am assuming you have a additional SATA port on your motherboard...

    If you have any problems, post them here and we should be able to get you up and running. :cool

    Like Fred G said make sure you have a bay and connection available. I opened my Father's Dell 2400 (low end Dell--about 5 years old--he uses for taxes and Word Proccessing) and was shocked to find there was no bay to hold a second HD! I had never heard of such a thing.

    You should be fine but when I saw DELL, I thought I'd give you a heads up to check it out before getting a new drive.
