Lenovo appears to experiencing "technical difficulties" with late-model laptops that have Thunderbolt controllers:

Recent Lenovo ThinkPad laptops have a problem with defective Thunderbolt Controllers

    The highlights:
    • May happen after 6 to 12 months.
    • The USB-C port may fail completely.
    • Sometimes the HDMI video output may be unavailable.
    • The Thunderbolt controller might produce error messages.
    • The system might not charge anymore through USB-C.
Lenovo's fix for the problems is to stay on top of the firmware and driver updates via Lenovo System Update (or go to your laptop's support page and download the updates manually).

Even my T and W series ThinkPads always had driver issues.

Still worth putting up with for the keyboard, lol
