I'm not sure how long its been out, perhaps I was left out the "loop", cause I just got it.

Think of it as a 'Maconized WMP' with an overbearing footprint, and a few more annoying quirks.

Overall it gets a thumbs up!

I will be happy to forever leave Kazaa behind, with the exception of music from Metalica, LP, and those other bands that refuse to give iTunes permission;)

I have not downloaded anything yet so I cant say how smooth that process is, or the quality, which I'm hoping will be at least 192k.

Heres the link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ Never mind the 19MB file size.

WHOOO!!! Pete is in the loop!!

Thats probably why its going a little slow then.

I remember reading something about 6 months ago that they were getting 175,000 downloads per day just from the mac users.
I can picture the server room now.....oh the power.

Pete you need to get out more ;)

Yep I bet the server is getting hammered at present, with downloads of the software and Win users all having a looky see at whats available.

I signed up, which was very easy and only took a moment, then I downloaded a song which also only took a moment.

Now the bad news. The song was about 4MB so thats probably around 128k levels, not great but appears to be the standard for most but fails to fool my ears.

The thing that really pisses me off is the fact you can only play the song in the iTunes player, which is pretty lame, especially since the footprint is so big, IMO.

I'll have to find a way to covert the format I guess.

I think I have finally found a music/MP3 player that does what I want!
    iTunes is AWESOME!!
I haven't downloaded anything yet, but the player is very nice... I have close to 6000 songs and keeping them straight is a pain...

one thing I love in iTunes are the smart playlists....
very smooth id3 tag editor... very easy to sort music....

    well done... so far!

Works the charm for me (running XP Home):D
