Okay so I just got this hand-me down comp from my brother. He said the Hard Drive is gonna go soon so I'm working on getting a new one. In the mean time the comp is having some issues that bug the crap out of me, I can't even send an email anymore without it shutting off.

Basically, I had to put a new temp video card in because the other one died on me and now this one is giving me trouble. (I'm assuming that's what it is, in reality I just HOPE that's what it is.) I installed drivers for it and it works decently, except that the color is completely distorted. The color green shows up black. Everything has a pink tint to it...and the best part is when it blue screens in the middle of whatever I'm doing and shows the message. "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" so I'm thinking maybe I need to install older drivers? Idk if that's possible, and I don't want to do anything extreme without a guide.

Have you tried useing the on-board vga and takeing out the video card to see what happens? that would tell you for sure its the card and then if you have the disk for the card just search out the errors in the device manager and install only the drivers it needs

any time I try to use any of the motherboard things it doesn't work. I tried using the sound on it and I got nothing. to do anything on this comp I would need someone to hold my hand and walk me through cuz I really have NO IDEA what I'm doing. As far as disks go I have nothing. I got the computer as is. I even had to find my own power cord for it.

Probably because the motherboard drivers are not loaded.
You have two choices: find out from your brother all the information as to brand of computer, model and motherboard or open up the case, start looking for numbers and letters on the motherboard and post what you find here.
No one can help unless you post as much information as possible about the hardware you are using.

Everest might help you find out some hardware information.

If you right-click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>DeviceManager are there any yellow question marks or exclamation points?

Does the computer have a name brand and model number on the case?
