I am new to this forum (been recomended by a friend)

hope you can help ,,,,,,,,,,,,,I have a ACER aspire1355xv,just installed sp 3 and now my qsi dvd-rom dsr - 083 dont work at all ,,tried uninstall ,,,no good cannot even reinstall or read any disk at all. microsoft update and wizard just like a chocolate frying pan

Thanks for the reply, tried windows fix it ............. still not working

i know the drive is good coz i fitted it in my spare laptop (XP SP2) works fine there but in this one XP SP3 not working . Been onto the microsoft tech support they say re install windows,,,,,,,,, but with no cd rom how is this possible??????

have you check in your bios set up that it is still in the list of drives.

Been into the bios its still supposed to be there

getting close to taking it to the repair shop 80 miles away and telling them to sort it!!!!!

I will have to use my backup computer for a month or so they are so slow here in Bulgaria.

Any other ideas most welcome.
