    Hi , I was wondering if any1 has compiled a list of what process have to be running and which ones dont, When i type ctrl alt dlt and go to process i have like 30 thing's going and i know ive seen computers that have had only a few i feel like my computer is bogged down and i want to end some of the stupid stuff that run's itself and knock those out. I tryed to do it on my own last nite but certian stuff that i would click end process on would shut down the whole computer so if any1 knows any info on this i would appreciate it.

    Hi and Welcome

    Wow.. running processes, thats a large area to cover in respect to the vast amount of applications you could install and the processes they use, but maybe these could help;

    Service List from Black Viper ( good for those services that your OS W2K, XP, 2003 etc may not need for job your using your PC for )

    iKnow Process Scanner

    Edit: this new one also looks like a great source of info Process Info 1.4

    Process Library ( good database of processes in alphabetical order )

    Process Explorer is a software app I and many here use to check on running processes, if you wish to find out what one listed does, right click it and choose google and it will list a search on that process with links to sites with info.

    Theire are more in our new catagory Process Managment but I have not tested all of them as yet.

    but to sum up each PC is different so you'll have to work out the processes you need or not for your system, a good place to start is the startup list of applications that run once your PC boots.

    Startup Inspector is pretty good at telling you what startup does what, but you can also post your startup list here as we can advise.
