As advised please revert msconfig to normal start up.
What player are you using? Do normal (Wav) audio CD's play fine.
Have you tried other media players?
Is this the only hiccup you notice or are there other issues as well? What made you use msconfig? Has this always been a problem? Are you on Vista SP1? Cheers.. :)

Hi, when you have finished following up DomLuc's advice :), check whether Task Scheduler is running background tasks (Defrag is a common one) that may be interfering. Control Panel > Administrative Tasks > Task Scheduler (I think - no Vista here), you should be able to pause or stop any task there; when you find a likely candidate, maybe you can reschedule it to a more convenient time or disable it and run it manually.
