Hello and I need help.

Hello people.

I am having a lot of problems with Vista right now.

Here is a list of the problems I'm having:

1. Computer does not shutdown and restart. I left it on overnight to shutdown and it still says logging off. My laptop does shutdown while in safe mode.

2. The Network Icon does not show that I'm connected to the internet. It just has the red x all the time. Whenever I hover the mouse over it the small window does not appear.

3. A bunch of other windows processes (or whatever they are called) does not respond. Ex: I would open up Backup and Restore center. The window would pop up and it would hang there forever. I would try to click on the X, Push alt + F4 and it does not respond to anything I do. Then I tried Task Manager, but even task manager does not work. The task manager icon appears at the bottom, but the window doesn't appear. I tried double clicking, right clicking it to no avail. I did manage to open up backup and restore but then when I clicked on repair windows with system restore no window appeared. When I clicked it again it said "The System Restore wizard is already running. This program will now exit." I did try system restore in safe mode, but it didn't fix anything.

4. Windows Installer hangs when I try to install or uninstall anything.

5. Windows Update hangs when I search for updates.

That's pretty much it as far as I can remember.

 

Do things seem to work ok while you are in Safe Mode?

All I know is that my laptop shuts down and I tried system restore, but it only showed one recent restore point. That restore point was before I had the problem. So I tried it, but it still didn't fix anything. That's all I know that works in safe mode I didn't try anything else.

 

I forgot that task manager works in Safe Mode. I also tried Safe Mode with networking and had those problems. Task Manager did not work and It my laptop could not shutdown.

 

I can't do the step where I have to uninstall all the old versions of java. It uses windows installer and like I said windows installer hangs. (I left it on for about an hour and a half and it didn't do anything.) That step also tells me to reboot after I uninstall everything, but my laptop can't shutdown or restart. Can I skip that step?

I finished the removal guide, but I'm still having the problems. Combofix did fix the problem, but when I rebooted the problems came back. Do I post the logs here?

Oh and I think I found the source of the problem. When I disable the WLAN autoconfig service before start up everything works fine.

 

No, post your logs in malware. start a thread and have a bit of patience as the guys n gals in there have a big workload.
