Hello I am having Antivirus Program Problems

Hi everyone,
My internet provider provides Macfee Security Suite as part of my service, but when was updated, problems started. Macfee would not update because it said there was a conflict with BT Yahoo! Online (or something close to that) so rather than keep fighting with it I used Revo Uninstaller to remove it and ran AVG free. AVG was only free for a month, sigh. So I found Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), after uninstalling AVG, I had been using MSE. Sometime last week MSE had an update that won't install.rolleyes

My next step was to come to here to see if I could some how find a fix for the antivirus issues. I installed & ran IObit Malware, but I still couldn't get the antivirus to update. So I went to the posting about Malware. I followed the directions as far as downloading and running to only creat log text files. Since that thread is closed I don't know what to do with these logs now to get help.

My Questions:
1. What do I do to get help with these text logs now or are they useless?
2. Should I just rerun each of the 5 scans & have them remove or "fix" the problems they find? (I am confused on this issue because the original thread said to run the scans but only in order to collect the logs)
3. I have backed up my files & have list of programs that I made using Ccleaner. Should I just try starting over by using my discs to restore to factory settings? (I know that will take a lot of time plus the time to reinstall my programs):confused
4. Or am I at that point that I just need to invest in a new computer?

I appreciate your time. If you have any suggestions, other information that might be helpful is that my Operating System is XP Media Center.

PS--I should have been clear. Before installing each of antivirus programs I had completely unistalled the previous antivirus.

 

Oh and I currently don't have antivirus because of these issues.

 

I am not a geek, but I think you need to tell us exactly what error messages you get when you try to update your antivirus.
