Hello!

hey guys, signed up for these forums for 2 reasons:

1) I have bamital.trojan and royally f&%*d up my computer yesterday trying to apply the fixes from another post. It's my own damn fault. This malware is a nasty bugger. So I have about a million follow up questions to ask...

2) I'm computer savy, and I work with them all day, but I know nothing about malware/spyware/viruses. In the past I've always had a backup for my important files and done formats if all else fails. 2 weeks ago my 7 year old desktop that I built conked out with a major hardware failure. Now my netbook has been ravaged by this wonderful malware and my attempts to solve the problem on my own. Obviously I need help, and hopefully I can eventually learn enough to contribute as well.

After 5 hours last night I gave up when the system restore wouldn't cooperate. I have some very important files on this computer and pray that they aren't lost forever.

I will go through the entire guide when I get home, but only if I can get my computer to do a restore. Bamital screws with explorer.exe and winlogon.exe and simply gives a desktop background in both regular and safe mode.
