Help a girl out. Is this laptop a good deal??

So, I'm a Mac person. I'm on my ancient iBookG4 right now and I would be super-stoked if it would last me forever, but unfortunately that is not what is happening. :-o
Anyway, I'm not really keen on dropping a couple of grand right now on a laptop, especially since I'm only using it, basically, for word processing, photos, music and internet. LOTS of music, obsessive amounts, and quite a lot of photos.
Anyway, I ran across this.

My super-geek brother told me never to buy anything other then from newegg, that I would be completely ripped off and only paying for the name.
This seems pretty comparable to a laptop on newegg that was actually more.

Direction! Please! 6 easy payments is swaying me...

I would never ever buy a computer from QVC. I perused the site, and all the systems are priced over what it would cost to get the same system from Dell or HP.

 

There have been occasions when a laptop from QVC was the cheapest online, by some 10%.

I can't get the link to work either. I see it's a 17", you're not going to want to carry that thing far, nor carry it everyday; if it's for use around the home, weight's much less of a factor. Make sure that this model has a good reputation and that it'll do all you need from it. Checkout some reviews of it and other competing makes/models. Then check prices again. I usually spend some time checking online prices using the InvisibleHand extension in Firefox.

Does that link imply that you're getting 4 years worth of McAfee 'protection'? I wouldn't call that a good selling point

Same price range, same size, better processors, more memory, equal or larger hard drives (a large external hard would solve the music and picture storage problem for any comp you choose).
Don't know what the payment choices would be. Food for thought.
