Help - Autoexec!??

I get the following message when trying to install Nero:

"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

Anyone help?

%SYSTEMROOT% is the main Windows directory. Depending on which version of windows is installed it is either C:\WINDOWS or C:\WINNT.

can i delete the new config and autoexec files i created? (notepad)

 

DO NOT delete the following files from the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32 folder:

• Config.nt

​

• Autoexec.nt

​

• Command.com

​

The file attribute should be "Read Only" for those files or else Windows will delete them at system restart. You will need those files every time a 16-Bit DOS program runs.

 

but can i delete the notepad ones i created. (which are on my desktop)
