Help Blue Screen of Death!

Help, last night my laptop would not turn on, today when i turned it on it just boots to blue screen of death, and then just restarts and boots up back to the blue screen, over and over. I was able to copy down the error message:

***STOP: 0x00000068 (0xC0000102, 0x00000002, 0x0000000, 0x00000000)

Took it to IT at school and they said that the hard drive was corrupt. Is there any way to get my files off of it and how would I be able to do that? Thanks in advance for any help

 

Sure that wasnt a stop 0x6b?

If so, there is a possibility the filesystem and data can be saved.

If its a stop 0x6b, there is nothing on the OS disk aside from a format/reinstall that will fix this.

Allow me to elaborate.

GoBack changes the partition type to its own in the partition table. When it (Goback) malfunctions, it gives a stop error on boot of 0x6b. The OS cannot read the filesystem withotu GoBack acting as a 'translator'.

In these cases, it isn't unheard of to be able to use an application (that boots off floppy or CD) to change the partition type back to its correct parameters; type 07 for ntfs, type 0B for Fat32.

Hey thanks guys, it is 0x0000006B, went by too fast last night and I thought it was an 8. I have the XP OS disk but i'm not sure what to do, a friend told me to boot the computer off the OS disk and use the recovery option, but i'm kind of clueless about this and if theres a chance to get my data off I don't want to mess it up any further or accidentally reformat it.
