Help-BT Broadband-can't get rid of norton

Hi, hope someone can help, I have just spent 2 hours trying to get rid of norton. I went to my friends as she has just bought a new pc and i had promised to download avg, zone alarm, spyware blaster and ad-aware for her. However, in her impatience to get on broadband she got the disc from BT and just followed all instructions so downloaded a firewall and anti-virus from norton as well as ad-blockers, etc. It is not in add/remove programs and it wouldn't let me delete anything from the symantec folder as it said the file was in use-tried turning it off but couldn't even find anywhere to do that. So, couldnt install avg or zone alarm and got really cross that they have made a program so difficult to get rid of. She said she would wait till it runs out but I am now on a mission to get rid of it as its got me so annoyed and I bet we still won't be able to uninstall it when it runs out without problems. I tried their website but i didn't know what version or year it was as I could not find this info either as it is also hidden somewhere and although I know a bit I am not very technical. Does anyone know which version BT broadband (option 2) would use and how I can get rid so I can install a decent anti-virus program.

If you do a quick search on yahoo etc for "remove norton" your be able to find a progam to remove the norton rubish!
