Help- can not install itunes

    New install of OS.
    I have installed iTunes from Apple.com and it will not start.
    I uninstalled and turned off all my security briefly while I reinstalled.
    I am getting no error messages to report.
    iTunes just will not initialize.

    Edit:
    Quicktime will not start either.
