:( Roxio gave me Roxio 10 because of all the problems I have had with their product.
After a clean install of Roxio 10 I couldn't burn a DVD and was getting errors like this: Roxio_Central.exe - Application Error.
The instruction at "0x05243435" referenced memory at "0x054930128".
The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate program.

I THEN did a clean install of Roxio 9.5 and still can't burn DVD's.
This is the error I got, but no longer got the application error.

    PxSFS.DLL: 4.2.58.500
    PxWave.dll: 4.2.58.500
    pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

I talked with MadDog tech support and they suggested I download and use CDBurnerXP. So I did andI tried to burn a DVD and here is the error message I received:
    Device error: (336130)
Could not write to disc (LBS: 7520 Length: 32)
    Invalid Address for write. 0x052102.

    What do I do?

I would try one more burning tool (I like BurnAware http://www.majorgeeks.com/BurnAware_Free_Edition_d5839.html) and if that errors or is unsuccessful, I'd start looking at other things, like hardware. Run a full diagnostic on your memory (I like this diagnostic for RAM http://www.majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_Windows_Memory_Diagnostic_d3955.html you create a bootable CD or floppy). Run the extended tests for at least 3 passes. It will take some time, so go out for a pizza and a few beers. If that passes, swap out the data cable on your DVD burner and muke sure it's an 80 pin cable (versus a 40 pin cable). Here's a tool to test your DVD drive http://www.majorgeeks.com/Nero_CD-DVD_Speed_d118.html Run it and see what it says... have you tried different brands of blank discs? Believe it or not, different brands can make a difference. What about the drive's firmware? Did you look into upgrading it? If all these things don't work out, then I'd say the drive is faulty and should be replaced.

Probably a stupid question :), but you do have a DVD Burner (DVD-R or DVD-RW) drive right? If you simply have a CD-RW drive, you will not be able to burn DVD's. I'm only asking because I've seen so many times people having trouble burning DVD's because they are trying to burn DVD's with their CD-RW drive.

Now, if you do happen to have a DVD burner, does this error occur only when you're trying to burn DVD's or does this also happen when you burn CD's?

Has this error only occurred with one brand of DVD's (Memorex, Verbatim, Maxell, etc.) or has this error occurred among a number of different DVD brands? If you've only tried one brand of DVD's it wouldn't hurt to try another brand just to see if those work. Try borrowing a DVD from a friend.

What kind of DVD are you trying to burn, a Data DVD or a DVD movie?

Sorry for all the questions but it helps in narrowing down the problem :)

What is your MadDog model number?
I actally removed a MadDog DVD from my system because I couldn't get anything to work with it.
I replaced it with an AOpen (reads DVDs only) and then added a NEC, which burns DVDs.

    I have a DVD-R drive and a separate CD-R/RW drive.
This problem did not occur until I installed my 'free' Roxio 10 software.
I have been using the same brand of DVD's without problem for a very
long time. CD's burn without a problem - anyway they did last time I tried.
DVD's will NOT burn. Have not tried a movie since the problem started, but did try a backup DVD and then a data DVD - no luck. The brand is TDK and I don't believe it's the brand. I am not sure what to do, but I will never use Roxio products again.

    It's a Megastore 18X MD-18XTFI.
However, it was working fine until I installed Roxio 10.

Hi and thank you. I will try these things and let you know. I am not good with hardware, but I am good with software. I feel like a fish out of water.

What about a registry cleaner? Are there any good ones out there that don't cost an arm and a leg?

I downloaded Burn Aware Free Edition and I just now burned a data DVD-R!
Please forgive me for posting so many messages. I am new at this forum and I appreciate your patience. As soon as I finish my morning coffee I am going to try and burn a movie. Keep your fingers crossed for me and I will keep let you know what happens! You guys are great! At least I know now that it the problem is NOT my DVD drive. :wave

It's ok about making so many posts, Did you check to see if there's a firmware update for your burner?
If there is and it's a later version then what's already on your burner download it and do what they say on how to install it.
And if you don't know where do you check and download it if needed http://http://www.mdmm.com/optical_storage_drivers.php

I used DVD Shrink to backup an old movie of mine and create and ISO file. First I tried using ImgBurn to burn the ISO file to a DVD and that was a bust. THEN I used BurnAware Free Edition to burn the ISO file and had great success! Thanks. Before all of that I went to http://www.filehippo.com/ and downloaded CCleaner 2.04.543 and ran it. The C stands for c__p cleaner. It's free and it cleaned my registry among other things. Then I did a defrag. Then I began with DVD Shrink, etc., etc. Couldn't have done it without you. You're my hero! Peggy
