Help Choosing AntiVirus

I work at a job where dealing with rather dumb people is a daily problem. I am in charge of keeping 10 computers working. I was given a copy of Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition 7.6, but I was totally dissapointed with it. At home I run AntiVir on my laptop. The only problem I have with using it at work is the scheduler. It works great, and having it run daily is nice, because AntiVir has been updating daily.

The problem arises with the scheduler being so easy for a rather dumb person to turn off.

So my question is this: Is there some way for me to hide the scheduler?

Also, AVG free has a built in updater right? Would I just be better off switching them all over to AVG now?

    Try

    AVG http://www.majorgeeks.com/ download886.html
    Avast download http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1968.html

They will have network (Pro) versions. Links are to Free home use versions but search on MG should reveal "Pro versions". I love the way Avast updates, automatically, with no need for interference/assistance by me. Never underestimate the power of stupidity when a crowd (network of users) assembles.:p I guess you know that already. :D BTW, I switched from AVG free, to Avast free, and am really happy with it, for a home user. If you want a good antivirus and are willing to spend some money get Nod32.
For more information on it and if you have any questions regarding Nod32 go ----> Nod32 Home and also go for the support forums go ----> Nod32 Forum

Well after looking around a little, I have decided to stick with AntiVir for atleast another week. I set the scheduler as admin, and everyone else is stuck as users. So while they can stop the scheduler, I am pretty sure they can't kill it permanently. So the next time they log on it will be back... anyway that is my hope.

AVG was pretty dissapointing to me. It had major issues updating. As in, it would try to download and fail everytime.

That's suprising. In the past, I've had an instance now and then when the update didnt work - but since version 7.0 came out - I've never had a failed update.

I used AntiVir and AVG and they are good but Avast is what I use now. It's also very good and has a friendlier interface in my opinion. I've used Noton and it was okay but now I think it's gotten too bulky.

I am learning to hate Antivir for mass computer use.

I found out AVGs servers happened to be down at the one time I decided to try it out, so I am thinking of giving them another try. Unless:

Can someone tell me how to get Antivir to start updating without someone having to tell it to start after the scheduler opens the update window?

AntiVir and Avast(click on link, then go to there site for more info) both have better detection rates and protection over AVG. I would keep AntiVir or switch to Avast ;)

Fast detection rates and better protection are the reason I like AntiVir. Unfortunately, if I can't get updates to start automatically it is not a lot of good in this situation.

Is there a automatic update feature with the product? If not open scheduler and make it check for updates whenever. ex; check for updates every 1hour

I have it set up to run in the scheduler once a day at noon, but it will only open the update window and check if there are any available, it will not start the update on its own.

Have you tried reinstalling it? Did you go to their homepage and checked out the faq's or forum?

I have not found a FAQ, and the forum is know for it's difficulty to use. Mostly due to the fact all the good answers are in German.

That sucks, maybe you should start a topic in the english section regarding your situation and hopefully they will answer it. Goodluck.
