Help! comp is not booting

HI!

There was a problem with my ups and the machine didn't shut down properly. Since then I am unable to boot the machine..
The error message says...system32.ntoskrnl.exe file missing

another message i get is

\system root\system 32\config\security or its log or alternate
It is corrupt, absent, or not written.

Can someone help with detailed instructions as to what needs to be done pls! I badly need the machine alive!

 

I am running on win 2000 by the way ...(was running actually!)

Your problem has to do with the registry being messed up. The folder location that you gave is the location of one of the registry hives. Im guessing you already tried last known good configuration option?

 

yes i tried that...

arch angel...i did read that article..
but I'm afraid its for windows NT.
besides I'll have to make those emergency disks... cant figure where they are...
Any help as to how I can go about that...?

 

chopinpl is right you have registry hive corruption. use this article. It is for XP but it works the same in 2000.
