Im hoping that someone can help me out here, What I would like to do is connect my laptop computer to a computer in my house which is connected to my main pc with a linksys wireless usb adapter. In case any one is wondering why, its just so that I can get farther wireless range in my backyard. What must I do to do this and share the internet connection with this pc? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out.

do you have a wireless router. if so post back with the type, if not the purchase of a wireles router it will give you internet access throughout your house and into the back yard.

i'm sorry i was under the impression you already had a wireless router and didn't have the range you wanted.
The purchase of a wireless router will give you the ability to connect numerous pc's to that one internet connection. and the signal an travel as far as your backyard and in some cases you will be able to get a signal at your neighbors house.
post back and give us your computer internet connection setup from your modem on, so we can have a better understanding of what you are trying to do with your system

Ok i will try to describe this the best that i can, in my (computer room) is where my dsl connection starts. This is where my modem is. Then I have a desktop pc in my bedroom that is connected to the main computer (in the computer room) it is connected with a linkysys wireless usb adapter. What im looking to do here is connect my laptop computer with the computer (in my bedroom) and share the internet connection. I want to be able to reach on my back porch, and my bedroom is like right there. I hope this gives you guys an idea on what im trying to do, and i hope that i wasnt to confusing. Thanks for the help.

It sound like you need a router which connects directly behind the modem. The way it is configured now the usb adapter isn't connecting to anything it will only connect if there is a wireless signal which comes from a router.

what do you mean it is not connected to anything and i need a router? It has to be connected to something (i am connected with the computer to my room to my isp provider) And right now i am on my laptop connected to the internet. I believe that I have a wireless modem.

    lets start from the beginning
you have a modem is it also a wireless modem what type is it (name and model)
you have a linksys wireless usb adapter what is the model of it.

when you listed your system specs you didn't indicate that you have a router attached to your system that's why i said you needed a router, unless your modem is a combination modem/router

Is your main PC connected to the dsl modem via cable?

Sounds to me like the main PC is hard-wired (connected to the dsl modem with a cable) but has a wireless card (adapter) that you want to connect the laptop to the PC for internet using this? Correct?

However, it would be more simple to purchase a wireless router plugged into the dsl modem, that both the laptop and PC can connect to. If you try to go the other way your going to have some stressful attempts using the windows connection manager.

I have a siemens gigaset (se547 i believe it is) modem connected to my main pc. It must be a modem/router because I can connect wirelesly to it. Then my bedroom I have a Linksy wireless usb adapter. Im not sure of the model of it (it does not say on it) all im really trying to do here is find out if there is a way that i can wirelessly connect my laptop to the desktop pc (thats in my bedroom) instead of connecting it to my main desktop pc where the modem is.
