Sigh. My husband is in the hospital, and they offer wireless internet access to the patients and visitors.

His laptop is running Windows 7, and he can connect to the wireless with no problem.

When I try to connect using mine, which runs Vista, it detects the network, and allows me to connect, but local access only. I've tried creating a new connectiontion, disabling and reenableing the adapter, automatically repairing the connection....nada.

It tells me there's a problem with my router, and that I should contact the network administrator, but this is a hospital, not a hotel, and the nurses don't seem really interested in dragging an IT tech up here. Is there anything else I can try?

Your only way to resolve is to talk to the IT group for the hospital. They set it up, they will know what is wrong. It is possible also, that you connected to the wrong AP. Post a screen shot of the networks that show up for you to choose from at the hospital.

Perhaps, it requires an initial registration or a security key to use the connection?

Every hospital AP that I have connected, does not require a key. They do ask you to confirm at a webpage, before the connection is completed, and your device is authorized.
