    Hello, I have a Asus P4S8X-X.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to connection the towers wiring of the power button to the motherboard.

    thank you.

Well I have some sort of confusion as to where wiring goes, it looks quite different from the manual.

    Here are some pictures.

    Motherboard.

    and the wires

Would someone be of help, and possibly just color were the wires would go on the motherboard socket picture corresponding with the color of each wire? LOL, I would appreciate it. I do not understand it based on the manual.

    Try This
The only one I have some doubt about
    is the hard drive led
if it doesnt work as is, try
    yellow in 18
    white in 16
    or
    yellow in 18
    white in 17
If you are worried about the hard drive led, just dont plug it in at all

    good luck
PS: I have done this before on my own board and I pretty much just guessed until i got it right, didnt do any damage :)

    ah shane, thanks it works.

But there seems to be a problem, nothing shows up on the monitor
I tried a different monitor, video card, powersupply. They dont seem to be the problem

I think perhaps the motherboard fried.

Whats the history of the computer ?
when did it last work ?
why did you have the switches/leds disconnected in the first place ?

Well, its has been working since the summer. It would constantly turn on and off. And it would over heat to fast, turned out my cpu died. I sent in the warranty and got a new one, but after 2 months later that cpu died again too.

It was quite insane, (my cpu is a p4 3.06 512). When ever it would restart, it would jsut go blank. the only way to get it working again would be to take the cpu out the socket, cmos it put it back in and it would work again. Otherwise it wouldnt start. But it would restart more and more frequently, previously it would only do it perhaps, twice a week, then it was twice a day.

So assuming it was the CPU, I sent it back to intel, and they sent me a brand new one back. I put this CPU in, and it shows nothing but a blank screen.

    I checked monitor/ videocard/ powersupply.

No X or Y caps on the motherboard seemed damaged, I havent checked the ram yet, but even if the ram were damaged, some sort of BIOS screen should appear. (I tried turning it on with no ram).

Its quite a weird situation. I checked if all the jumpers were correct from the manual and they were.

    I'm quite confused by this.

Sounds like you know more about computers than me

As a guess Id say its always been the motherboard
if you bought the computer as a package send it back
(hopefully still covered by warranty ??)

Id also consider starting a new thread - something provocative like......
3 dead CPUs in 6 months HELP ME PLEASE
    something like that anyway

Just slightly reword your last post and you should get some good replies.

Good luck - its beyond me

Have you got any more picturs of that board. I couldn't make out from the one you posted if it was just dust, or whether it looked burnt where the connectors plug in.

I thought it was a rice bubble ;)
looks like the top layers been ripped off, I just assumed it was an old board
    and had a hard life
but its only 3 years old (by the manual)
