    Hello all.
Most of the threads I can find are for a small budget.

I want to build a tower only and spend $1500.00

I have a Benq 21 inch 1680x1250 monitor plus peripherals but have no idea what to buy for the tower.
I can build from scratch or take a list to my local store.
    So what do I buy?
    Games and internet.

$1500 is still a small budget. You can get a decent gaming rig for under $1,000.00 You can get pre-built rigs made. There is a local place here in Springfield IL called "Computer deli" that builds and ships rigs.

What particular games are you talking about playing? The choke point would be the GPU. As for memory, 4gb would be sufficient to run most, anymore over 8gb would be a waste, unless you are doing multiple processes, especially if doing photo work. As for Internet as the majority of use, you could get away with a $500 machine with 2gb RAM and Intel Core Duo.

For the CPU, I would probably look at the Intel i5 as the min, Intel i7 as the max. As for best GPU, here is some lists http://internetgames.about.com/od/hardware/tp/tpvideocards.htm http://brandonhart100.hubpages.com/hub/GPU-Gaming http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0PDoX3d3dhOrTkAti.JzbkF?p=best+gpu+for+gaming&fr=&fr2=piv-web

We always joke that our rig that we use for church services is the best gaming rig, since it uses Dual Xeon CPU's, and has a top of the line GPU in it. Now, that rig probably cost around $2500.

I don't own a game less than 5 years old.
But I would like to walk into a store and be able to play any game they have.

You could do that with a off the shelf machine, with a i5 Intel, 4gb RAM, Windows 7/64 bit. The Alienware by Dell are decent machines, HP/Compaq has a couple of good machines for gaming.
