Help Desk Software

Can someone recommend some Help Desk software:

• 
  for a very small organization that does not have a server.
  not Web-based for data entry.
  I just want software that will help me keep track of issues (and maybe inventory too) with each of our systems.
  Free would be nice, but not necessary.

I've tried those mentioned in other threads here, or things I've found online, but they seem to be set up for users to request help through the software. That won't work here, so I only need it on my local machine.

I've been using Zulupad for a while now and find it useful. I think it could be used as a Help desk as Keywords can be setup and anyone typing one of those Keywords will find a (your own) Wikipedia type entry, detailing whatever you have entered against that Keyword.
