Help: DVD Crashes PC

I tried working on a friends PC but gave up, but I'm hoping someone here has a solution.

My friends told me whenever he puts a DVD in the computer when it is turned on it freezes to a black screen, and when he restarts if the DVD is in the computer will start back up to the black screen.
I tried the obvious things such as: uninstalling junk media players, replacing his installing PowerDVD 7, setting the DVD to autoplay with PowerDVD or with nothing, and I made sure Windows was up to date.

I made no progress. So if anyone has an idea what is going on.... well I would love to hear from you

 

Sounds like a possible conflict or recognition issue with your DVD drive device.
Most likely a driver issue.
Go to 'device manager' in windows and select the DVD drive in question and check if there are any exclamation marks or red crosses involved.

Also you could download and install the latest drivers for your device at their listed website.

its usally a good idea to unistall the drivers first then install the new ones insted of just installing over the old ones
