    Hello all,

I am in the process of upgrading... overhauling my CPU.

    Here is my wishlist...

    1. Prefer an i7
    2. 3D monitor... Hence compatible hardware in the CPU
    3. Corsair cabinet and power supply
    4. A good gaming experience... Hence a good GPU

Please suggest a good configuration that can be bought in india ( Bangalore).

Also, whats an ivy bridge?... And do we need it in domestic CPUs?

I am Ok with a decent budget. Prefer good hardware.

    Please help guys....

All depends how you want to spend, if you focus is one gaming get the best gpu you can afford and a mid range cpu.

Also we have no idea what's available in India or at least what's economical in your area so if you link to an online store where you purchase from we can help you.

Unless you've used 3D for a prolonged period and not just tried it in a store, you may also find it's a bit gimmic'y if budget is a problem, although I would recommend many of the 3d monitors as they support 120hz which I think is a great feature, saying that I prefer to game on a large 60hz lcd TV.

    Thanks Rikky.

Can you or someone suggest a good motherboard for an i5 processor with 4 GB ram and 1 TB HDD.

Also, Can you suggest a good GPU for the above config?

I'm not an expert on all the boards that are out there . . . but I have been happy with the one my sons and I all built new computers around. It's the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe motherboard . . . the boards before REV 3.0 had issues with the 6GB SATA ports, but the 3.0 revision corrected the issues. At least we've had ours up and running since Aug of 2012 with no issues. Really cool board.

I have a Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz, 16GB of Patriot Gamer 2 Series (4X4 GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 RAM, one 500GB Seagate Barracuda SATA drive, and a 250GB Segate Barracuds secondary drive (looking to buy SSD drives soon), Radeon HD6850 video card, OCZ 700Watt power supply. Computer is running Windows 7 Pro. Love the responsiveness of this computer.

I'm sure there are many newer boards out there for what the P8P cost, but I do recommend going with ASUS products. I have used a lot of their products in the past and have been very happy with them. I in fact have a ASUS P4P800SE that I have been running since 2004, and it is chugging along fine.

On any motherboard you choose, research the internet for reviews from established sites and also forums that deal with motherboards. A little investigative grundge work can save a ton of sorrow later on.
