Hello - I'm not the most computer savvy, so please bare with me.

I have an Acer Extensa 4420 with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit Operating System. Processor is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor TK-55 1.80 GHz And has 2.0 GB RAM

Hope this is not too much info but I don't really know what you'll need.

Originally when I got this computer it had the main C: drive and the D: drive for CD/DVD. I believe it only had 1.0 GB RAM as well. I started having problems with it hanging up and running slowly, so I took it to Best Buy and they told me since it runs Vista it needed more memory. So I bought the chip or whatever and had them put it in.

Now I have the main C: drive, and additional D: drive, and the E: drive is for the CD/DVD. C: and D: drive both have 69.6 GB, C: has 36.2 GB free and D: has 67.7 free.

I don't think it is a partition since I do have extra memory now and I remember seeing somewhere on the computer when I was looking at stuff that the C: and D: drives both have partitions, but I can't remember where I saw that so I can't tell you for certain.

Basically I want to make use of the D: drive and put programs and files on it to keep free space on the C: drive. I went ahead and starting transferring my word documents and pictures there with no problems except once in a while when I open a folder, pictures for example, I end up somewhere else. Then if I back out and click on pictures again it works fine. I tried to put my Flip video software on the D: drive and it didn't work. I would like to put iTunes and my music on there as well but don't really know what I am doing.

Can someone help me with this or point me to where I can read up on how to do this. I really appreciate it!

With windows computers you can safely move files and folders, but not programs, as short cuts can break. If you want to move programs, you need to uninstall them and reinstall them in the new location to make sure all links are brought across with the program.
