Help gateway zx4300

I have a gateway zx4300 only 1.5 years old, and it keeps shutting down on me if left on too long...the power cord does get hot. I had it cleaned and tuned up, by a friend and a professional...who charged alot, but neither fixed the problem. After reading some blogs, I am wandering if the motherboard or fan is going dad. I hear the fan, but even the back of the pc gets warm...anyone have any suggestions? I am really not happy with this, but kinda stuck....Thanks rolleyesrolleyes

Just reading the word 'Gateway' makes me think "weak PSU", ask your pro friend if they have a good power supply unit you could 'borrow' to test with for a while.
