I could use some guidance.

I have a 5 year old ALIANWARE system with an upgraded video card(ATI Radeon 9800 XT) about 3 years ago.

Around 6 months ago I started experiencing many different problems. Such as, games would crash to my deskstop constantly, and the system will frequently restart on its own. I get faulty memory errors and neither of my DvD drives are working so I am unable to install anything. Basically it has been acting really weird, I've run Adware scanners, Spyware scanners, Virus scanners, and have found nothing. I've reformatted, restarted, and defragmented my drives and still nothing helps.

Any thoughts or general solutions would be appreciated. Perhaps it's finally time for a new PC. Thanx in advance.

anyways back to ur current system, have u tried checking the internals such as cables etc? btw can u post ur system specs?

Allright some of the obvious ques:

When did last clean out the insides?

Do you have a diagnostics app? If so what sort of temps/volts/rpms are you reading straight after in-game crashes?!? Lets assess whether we have a possible overheating or dying PSU prob.

Run and "Comp > Sensors"; will show all the baseline info of interest.

Dawnpatrol has provided excellent advice it could be a failing memory module (I've just replaced one) but I would also recommend DL and running MemTest86 and note if you get mem errors. I had all sorts of weird stuff happening but basically transcription errors (same Hexidecimal Refrence Address) and causing software to become corrupted.
