I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite A305-S6905 with Vista. My wireless connection seems to be fine but I can only browse within Google. I looked for answers all over the net. I know it have to be some kind of configuration. Please help me. I am using cable internet.

How are you connected to the cable modem? Ethernet?

    What is your ip settings?

Start > Run > cmd > type in "ipconfig /all"

That may give a clue as to what the prob may be. Also, what internet browser are you using?

I have the same problem! I've been searching and searching for an answer to this. My newer laptop is effectively worthless until I find a fix for this!

I have three computers. The only one with the problem is my HP laptop, running Vista Home Premium 32-bit (and I doubt that information matters since I've read of this happening on Macs, too). Yesterday morning, suddenly, all I could do was go to Google sites. I could list my information and everything I've tried so far, but I honestly don't think it would do any good. I've seen so, so many people with this exact same problem and all of their information/circumstances are different (different countries, different ISPs, different routers, different operating systems/computers, different browsers, etc.), and they've all tried everything (virus scans, firewall changes, dns flushing, windows reinstalls, pinging, new routers, etc.). None of them had any idea why it had suddenly happened. There was no cause for it. And no solution has been posted that have found anywhere after countless searches over the last 24 hours.

I've seen this same problem date back to 2004, yet no fix anywhere. I need some major, major geeks right now. This sucks!

    Review your hosts file.

OK. I found the "hosts" file, and other than notes, it reads:

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    ::1 localhost

Anything look wrong with that? I honestly wouldn't know. I'm having to learn things as I go. I didn't want to come back until I at least learned what and where a "hosts file" was. :-o

    This is correct for Vista

The second line does not appear in XP and is used for IPv6

The Hosts file is not to blame I will give it some further thought.

I don't know if this will help, but here are a few more details.

My Desktop Weather won't run because it does not detect a connection.

Windows automatic updates and my anti-virus updates can't find a connection, either.

Windows Live Messenger can't connect. I run troubleshooter and I get green checks down until it hits "Key Ports" where it give the exclamation mark. "Repair" cannot fix the problem.

Diagnosing my connection shows no problems with my connection. Says it's working fine. Virus scans show clean.

There is a 50/50 chance my Yahoo IM will log on. Once, it was actually able to alert me of new mail, but I couldn't get on Yahoo to view it.

I do receive my Gmail; Gmail Notifier works. I can view up-to-date news headlines in Google News, but can't load the news sites. I can work online in Google Documents just fine. I can use Google Maps. I can search for anything through Google.

Netflix halfway loads. Half the graphics load and no movie images. The "move to top" function is missing, so I have to reorder my queue using the number boxes.

This is just so bizarre.(
