Help, I messed my computer up

Hi

I am running XP Pro and I deleted the lowerfilters and upperfilters out of my reg (something to do with my dvd rw drive is why i did it)and now neither my mouse or keyboard work ....is there any way this can be fixed without reformating?

I have tried going into safe mode and whatnot but they still dont work...

any help would be greatly appreciated

If you didn't backup your registry first........try this>

To start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, follow these steps:
1. Start your computer.
2. When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press the F8 key.
3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
4. If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER.

 

tried that too....same thing

 

That's weird. Are you sure they are still connected? Try wriggling the cables. The system should still pick them up because you haven't booted to Windows yet.

 

yep I'm sure...I can use my keyboard in the BIOS but as soon as I load Windows it doesn't work

In Recovery Console is there a way to do a System Restore??? if so how and do you think that would work?
