So, it's been quite awhile since I posted here, and I am having an issue identifying the eMachines PC I am currently using.

The story is kinda of long, so feel free to skip past this if you feel its unimportant, although it may contain some identifying markers. Around 2006 I had a PC die on me, and I bought a used eMachines PC from a friend really cheap. Right now it's having various issues and I am planning to reformat and reinstall windows.

The problem with this is I didn't get anything from my friend besides the tower, and it wasn't in the best of shape. Any identifying marks are gone. All I've got to go on is what is inside the PC to identify it, but I am having trouble with that, as well.

I need to identify this PC model so that I can find correct drivers for the motherboard and its components, so that I can do a good reinstall of Windows.

I have EVEREST, and thats helped me generate a small report, which I will include as a text file. Any help would be appreciated.

I feel its good to mention the video inside of this isn't what came with it. It's running a AGP card I installed myself awhile back. This isn't meant to be an awesome computer, I have one of those, this one is for web surfing and the like. Even though its not that important, I would still like to have proper drivers for it to work right.

I also tried finding info on the motherboard, but I couldn't even find it listed on the manufacturers website.

Sorry for the trouble and my greatest of thanks to anyone who can help me identify the model.

FYI, the motherboard ID is 03/07/2005-SiS-661FX-6A7I4M4HC-00. I am wondering if the beginning is the manufacture date, but I am not certain on these things.

I'm not sure if MSI allows direct links but this looks like your board from what I see in the Everest report. The driver link is in a bar towards the top of the page.

If the above link doesn't last you get there from MSI>Downloads>Paste MS-7060 in the Search box.

I would avoid any BIOS updates unless you are having a severe problem. I don't think eMachines does anything to change the manufacturer's BIOS but I don't know for sure. So I would only update BIOS if you can find a support page from e Machines.

    Thanks for the help!

I am pretty sure thats the correct board, as the image looks exactly like my board.

I'm pretty sure eMachines does nothing to change the BIOS, either, as it doesn't load a custome BIOS screen, just the standard BIOS.

I am very grateful to you. I can get the proper drivers for this motherboard now and go through with my reinstall as planned.

I tried searching the MSI website for this board and nothing came up, and now I feel stupid because it's right there. Thanks again. I guess this topic can be considered closed.

Not that easy to find on the MSI site. I went through the selection process and only realized I had the wrong board by seeing your CPU wasn't compatible. Then after i found the right board by making the only other choice, I decided to do the search to see if it was easier to get to that way. It was but the actual name MSI uses is 661FM2-LSR which is a far cry from MS-7060. Only on that CPU support page do they make reference to 7060, so it is easy to overlook.

Glad it is sorted. Good luck with the install. :)

    Get Belarc Advisor

It will generate a report that should show the model number as in the attached image.

This was done on an eMachines computer. eMachines is now owned by Gateway but that is the eMachines model number..
