Help! installed wrong USB driver now mouse not working! XP

Hi

My friend was having problems with a slow computer, its quite old but even so it was "unusually" slow apparently, and she asked me to help.

So I did the usual... defrag, run anti virus, remove unnecessary startup progs using msconfig, etc

The last thing i tried was to update the drivers by using the "Browse my computer for driver software" option in device manager. a few drivers updated fine, but when i got to the Universal Serial Bus Controllers one of the drivers was only giving me the option to manually update the driver. It wasent the generic USB hub or USB Root hub, it was one of the ones that end in 4 characters (on my PC its something like 3B3C, but hers was diffrent)

Anyway i chose one of the intel drivers and as soon as i did the mouse stopped working, preventing me from changing it back. I have since restarted the PC and the mouse is still not working.

Stupidly i did not make a restore point, so is there any way to fix this problem? I think she will be quite annoyed if i messed up her PC after she came to me for help!

EDIT: should probably mention this happened on a XP dell desktop

not to worry. jumped the gun a bit... even though i restarted the PC several times and the mouse was not working it seems for some odd reason she booted the PC this morning and everything was fine..
