Help installing new graphics card

Hi, I've got a Dell Dimension 2400 with an integrated Intel graphics thing. I'm trying to install an ATI Radeon 9200SE PCI, but having problems. When I boot with the card in, nothing shows up on my monitor. There aren't many bios options to change. What would you reccomend I do.

 

I take it you have plugged the monitor into the new card?

Do you get any POST beeps?

 

I would do this first, take new card out of pc. Use old VGA and connect cable

Boot to windows, uninstall vga drivers and delete display adpapter from device manager, reboot. Go into bios disable onboard graphics device, save to bios and shut down pc. Put in new card connect to VGA cable and boot to windows. Install new drivers. "Should" be that easy.

 

Wait, so I'm meant to plug my monitor into the card? Sounds weird, how do I do that?

 

Theres a cable comin out of your monitor going to the back of your pc,this cable sends the video info from your computer to your monitor,this cable has to be plugged into the back of the new card you have just bought,so unplug it from the back of your computer,take note of the socket you have just unplugged it from,find the same socket on the back of your new card and plug it into that one,the video signal from your new card will now go into your monitor
