okay I had a nasty virus that disabled my cd rom drive. I couldnt clean the virus out it was pretty bad. So i got a new hd and a new cd rom drive. I have a windows xp cd and a windows vista cd. I go to install the os and for xp it takes me to that blue screen asks me if i want to format so i format. it installs the initial drivers and what not and reboots. It should go to the windows instilation screen aftr that but it doesnt. It just takes me back to the same blue screen. The same thing happens with the vista cd. Does anyone know why it recognizes my cd but wont allow me to install the os?

Have you tried new cables to connect the drives?

My bad i figured it out. The boot sequence was out of whack. It only was recognizing the cd rom drive and not the hd as well. So hence the rebooting. Had no place to actually install the os. But ty for the help anyway i appreciate it.

That's a good result :) sometimes just talking about it is enough to help figure it out.
