Help... is my computer ruining moniters? Can they even do that?

Anyways what happened was I had it on over night and when I woke up the moniter was off... not in sleep mode or anythng just off. So I pushed the power button to turn it on and there was nothing, it wouldnt turn on at all. Well I unhooked it and unplugged it then plugged it back in and pushed the power button again and the little light came on but just flashed slowly, nothing came up on the screen. Well I had an older moniter and hooked it up and it worked fine so I just figured that the other one went bad or something. Later that night though that moniter just shut off by itself and will not turn back on now. I unplugged it plugged it back in but it wont do anything... could it be just a wierd coincidence that I had 2 moniters go bad in a 24 hour period or could there be something that is causing this? i'm on my grandma's computer by the way since I have no moniter lol... and I'm afraid to go buy a new one in case something is causing them to go bad.

Personally I doubt that the PC would cause this, probably the wall socket the monitor is plugged into would be my guess. I'm no electrician, but that would be my first suspect. I'd be pretty cautious and get someone who knows what they're doing to look at it though. The flashing light when you plugged it back in does seem starnge though. Still, get someone to check the wall socket first then post if it seems ok.
