Help Kayboard not working

help i had to force shutdown my computer cause a game locked up and ctrl alt del wouldnt work. so i rebooted and my keyboard is unresponsive.. i went to add new hardware it says human interface device with a ? meaning it has problems.. so i click that device and it says the following: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration infomation (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 26)

so i ran the following using the onscreen keyboard
chkdsk/f
chkdsk/x
chkdsk/r

and i installed the logitech drivers for my keyboard and still no good.. the mouse works and the special function keys but not the rest.. and the light on the usb reciever for the keyboard dont light up either.. are they any programs to recover errors in the registry or do i have to end up formatting :|

when i run chkdsk in read only mode and it dont say anything is wrong 0kb in bad sectors but says not badsectors reported

I assume your running xp,a simple system restore to any point before the crash should restore the registry,if the lights gone out I would guess theres something up with your usb controller,check your bios setting havn't been reset to default,this may have disabled usb keyboard support,also is this a wireless keyboard?

 

i have system restore disabled and always have xD. i will check out what bios stuff

 

it is a wireless keybaord and the bios setting geting tossed abck to defualt shoulndt matter cause i have cleared my cmos several times... i will check bios and the keyboard does work in bios
